UKI Arkkitehdit: Visualization brings designs to life
UKI Arkkitehdit Oy’s Managing Director Mikko Heikkinen is the creator of the user-driven VALO™ design method and
an acquisition expert. The method helps design better, more cost-efficient buildings, environment, city and services.
Collaprime’s technology has had an important role in developing the VALO™ method to its current form.
When Heikkinen started to think about tools to support his design method, he contacted Tony Lindqvist who he knew
had experience in VR technology. The cooperation resulted in a virtual space that acts as a common working area for
construction designers or as an immersive virtual experience where designs come to life for the layman, too.
“Collaprime’s experts were and still are the only ones we know who have the expertise and technical know-how to
deliver the kind of solutions we needed. Even though VR technology has developed in leaps and bounds over the last
few years, we still haven’t encountered a similar product anywhere,” Heikkinen says.
Big project, big savings
Collaprime’s tools enable realistic virtual walkthroughs visualized in a true 1:1 scale. This is particularly important in
places where end-users’ views on the working facilities and their requirements are needed.
Virtual collaborative tools have been used both in renovation as well as in construction of new buildings. The best
possible savings on life cycle costs are gained when these tools are utilized from as early on as possible, potentially
even in the project planning stage. The more complex the project, the greater the benefits.
Cooperation with Collaprime has been smooth and easy, according to Heikkinen. Both parties’ proficiency in their own
field has made working together effortless. Both UKI Arkkitehdit as well as their clients have been able to enjoy the
“Collaprime’s expertise has helped us strengthen our competitiveness and role as a forerunner in the field. We have
worked together for years, but I believe this is just the beginning.”
